As part of this degree, you will prepare to teach young adults from 7 to 13 years old. You'll gain a solid foundation in all aspects of the New Zealand curriculum. You'll also learn a bout professio nal and ethical practices, adolescent development, issues that face teachers and learners with special needs, teaching children from diverse backgrounds, classroom management, and the wider co ntexts of school, community and natio nal systems. On practicum, you'll take an active role in the classroom under the guidance of an associate teacher. This includes a one day per week in the second and third year of your degree with additio nal full-time blocks and a full 10-week block in your fourth year. During your degree, you'll experience different types of schools and work with a range of age groups.
