Swinburne’s new Construction Simulation Hub

Swinburne has opened its new Construction Simulation Hub to support its vocational and higher education students studying construction, engineering, architecture and project management.

The future-focused Hub is equipped with the latest digital tools and equipment in advanced 3D scanning, augmented and virtual reality (AVR) and mixed reality (MR) modelling, and will allow students to design, model, optimise, and visualise construction activities.

With Swinburne already placing a strong emphasis on providing a hands-on experience for students, Swinburne School of Engineering Dean, Professor Emad Gad, said, 'The Construction Simulation Lab will further develop those skills and give our students an unmatched start into their careers.'

This project is part of Swinburne’s next gen_campus transformation, delivering campuses for the future where we can learn, connect and innovate together.

Swinburne is pleased to announce the implementation of a new Agent Toolkit to support international agents. The online portal will provide a range of downloadable guides and resources for agents and international students, including:

course guides and flyers
study spectrums
acceptance instructions

systems and support, plus more.

Course feature: Bachelor of Psychological Sciences

In this three-year full-time undergraduate course, students will learn how to critically evaluate research to inform their conceptual understandings in social and behavioural sciences and psychology.

Students will develop skills in project management, research design and report writing and will graduate being able to interpret and communicate ideas, problems and arguments, critically analyse information and apply their knowledge and skills individually or in collaboration with others. Future career options may include social welfare consultant, medical researcher, child safety officer, clinical worker, health officer or child development officer.

Graduates of this degree can also apply for the Bachelor of Psychological Sciences (Honours) to develop advanced, independent research skills and work towards a career as a professional psychologist or academic researcher.

Student profile: Sachi – Master of Business Information Systems

For Sri Lankan student, Sachi, her choice to study a Master of Business Information Systems was influenced by the world around her and how much IT affects every industry. She knew that having a qualification in IT would be very useful in this environment.

With Sri Lankan students’ and employers’ high regard for Swinburne, largely for its career integrations and innovative practices, forming part of Sachi’s reason to study at Swinburne, the University’s excellent reputation for IT-based courses and the support services available were also important to Sachi in making her decision.

Along with her studies, Sachi also joined the Swinburne Sri Lankan Students Association, helping to coordinate a wide range of culturally relevant events throughout the year for the large Sri Lankan community at Swinburne.
