随着全球化的潮流,英语正迅速地成为一种世界语言。要在全球的舞台上竞争,不管是在商业,财政,科技,艺术或其他领域,英语已成为一个不可或缺的工具。近几年来,世界各地,尤其是亚洲国家,对英语教教师的需求急速地上升,也就是说,TESOL 就业市场正急速地在扩大。这个需求的增加在我国大陆和台湾地区最明显，海峡两岸对英语必修的要求已从中学下延到小学，越来越多的幼稚园也开始提供英语教学。专业英语教师的薪资逐年上涨，收入颇为可观。
