FACULTY FOCUS:EducationDear UK Marketing,In this faculty focus, we will be doing a deep-dive on all things education at the University of Plymouth, including important updates to the MA Education application process, MA Education January start, and employability opportunities.Plymouth Institute of EducationPlymouth Institute of Education, within the School of Society and Culture, works with a range of partners to offer high quality research, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.New programmes at undergraduate level include a 2-year fast track Primary Education), and at postgraduate level, our MA Education now has the option for a January start.Find out moreMA EducationOur MA Education allows students to delve into research and educational theory, as well as offering optional modules in areas such as inclusive education and sustainability.There are opportunities to visit different educational settings and the team also encourage volunteering. There will be a school visit programme for the new cohort.Find out more about the MA Education course detailsPhoto: Students on a recent school visit in Plymouth.IMPORTANT UPDATE:The University is no longer requiring applicants to complete the supplementary form when applying for the MA Education.However, this guidance may still be helpful for the main application form.We will also now be considering 2:2s in our applications.EmployabilityMA Education students are well-placed to submit applications to the government's apprenticeship scheme, where they qualify for Qualified Teacher Status by working in a paid role at a school.Doing the MA Education means students can evidence knowledge of the UK education system. Our programme of school visits also introduces students to local schools - currently the Mayflower School in Plymouth has a former international student now working for them through that scheme. The University can also assist students to secure part-time work as Teaching Assistants in local schools.Many MA Education graduates return to their home countries, as they are already qualified teachers, and complete the MA Education to enhance their promotion prospects.“Exposure to a new educational system has expanded my academic horizons.
