该专业为翻译方向，旨在通过理论及实践学习，培养学生翻译资格。该专业特为接受过同等水平培训的翻译人员而设，其主要目的就是提高他们的翻译能力。学生们在这里将会学到有关翻译的研究理论以及在从事高端复杂和专业性比较强的翻译时的应用技能。每位学生须修满72个学分后方可毕业。

澳洲国立大学翻译类专业就业前景广泛，但个人能力同样重要。在澳洲当地，对翻译有需求的行业集中在中介、翻译公司、政府机构、医疗机构等等。
学生评价：
选择翻译类课程的同学与日俱增，然而基数大并没有直接带来翻译类人才的大幅提升，翻译类人才量多质平是很多领域、行业遇到的问题。因此有志向在这个领域发展的学生，不若用心对待这门学科，在用心苦读和多说多练后得到的成就与收获，定是物有所值的。
